Teacher Training

SCHOOL DIRECT INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING

WHY TRAIN WITH US?

At Christ the King College we have the experience and capacity to deliver outstanding training for the next generation of teachers. As a College, we are passionate about teaching and learning, and are committed to providing high quality initial teacher training.

The School Direct programme at Christ the King College and our partner the University of Southampton, will not insist on one method of teaching but will help you, as trainee teachers, challenge your own preconceptions and develop as an informed and reflective teacher. Our aim is to ensure that by the end of the course you can teach your subject confidently and successfully, by developing your skills as a problem solver, and by encouraging you to explore theoretical ideas and apply them to the practicalities of the classroom.

Our bespoke initial teacher training by exceeds the minimum of 60 full days of training that trainees are entitled to. All aspects of the course are delivered in an interactive way, and can be directly applied to the classroom. This allows the trainee to experience the role of the learner and how it feels to be a pupil in a classroom.

The University of Southampton has a long-established record of excellent initial teacher training. Successful completion of our training course leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the award of PGCE. As part of the course, you will be able to gain credits towards a Master’s level accreditation.
